Laurence, do you know if Yoga can shorten and ease labor?

When you are prepared for labour using Yoga and other complementary methods in line with the principle of active birth, you will be able to use your breathing techniques to quieten your mind, focus and disengage from fear and overwhelming sensations.

This will help you recuperate in between contractions which will help you pace yourself and keep your stamina, ready to welcome your baby in due time.

This is important because it is affecting your mental state and perception of labour when in labour and it will make you feel as if the labour was shorter and easier. This may in turn help you on the physical side which may well result in effectively reducing the length and pain of labour.

This is a very important and specialise area that you can prepare effectively for. We are preparing an event on 3 July 2010 in Surrey which will address specifically Birth Preparation to make it a Positive Birth Experience. Look at the details of the events and if you are not able to make it, then it will help you understand what to look for. See in particular the Audio File, I interviewed Karen Mander on this topic and her insight is priceless.
